About Us

Port Bannatyne Petanque Club – The 1st Island Petanque Club

Feet together

Yes that is the literal translated from the Provincial for the newest activity to come to the Port. Why so named? Well the object of the game is to throw your boule as close to the jack as possible and let the game commence whether as a singles, doubles or teams of three, and that initial throw well both feet together and on the ground.

The playing area or piste will open on Saturday 17th May 2008 in the Port and is the latest addition to the growing band of clubs throughout Scotland. Our new club is affiliated to the Scottish Petanque Association which now consists of 11 clubs, many dozens of members and many hundreds of casual players.

This is a game for all the family and is enjoyed by the young and old alike. In France there are some 375000 regular players attracted by the social friendly yet competitive afternoon activity that it is.  It’s a low cost fun sport and now with out new facility here on the Island it couldn’t be easier to join in the fun.

We look forward to seeing you.  Further details are available on our website portPetanque.blogspot.com
